Defending champion Henry Neal withdraws from Touring Car Trophy

Defending champion Henry Neal has announced his withdrawal from the Touring Car Trophy incorporating TCR UK ahead of the season opener this weekend at Silverstone.
Neal was due to defend the title in his Team Dynamics-run Honda Civic Type R but has now pulled his entry citing a new opportunity that has arisen later in the year.
The decision to withdraw means a 15 car entry is set to do battle in the opening round, with twelve TCR UK entries joined by three NGTC-spec cars entered by Team HARD.
“After much consideration we have sadly pulled out of the Goodyear Touring Car Trophy for this year,” Neal said. “A new fresh opportunity has recently come about for us at the end of the year, which will be announced at some point over the next few months. We sadly can’t justify doing both and this new opportunity is just too good to miss out on.

Max Hart switches to Hyundai for second season

Max Hart has announced that he will return to the Touring Car Trophy with TCR UK for a second season in 2021.
Hart joined the grid last season at the wheel of a Cupra Leon, but will switch into one of Maximum Motorsport’s newly-acquired Hyundai i30 N TCRs.
The teenager finished third in the Touring Car Trophy standings as second best TCR UK runner last year, having taken his maiden win in the series in the season finale at Donington Park.
“Having previously driven single-seaters, I was impressed with how a TCR car felt as soon as I drove one for the first-time last year,” he said. “I really enjoyed last season, so I’m very pleased to sign up for 2021 especially as I’ll be driving a Hyundai i30N, a car that has proved extremely competitive all over the world.
Ex-Bryan Herta Hyundais set for UK programme

The two Hyundai i30 N TCR cars previously used by Bryan Herta Autosports are set to compete in the TCR UK class of the Touring Car Trophy for 2021.
The two cars, which won their class in the Pirelli World Challenge series in 2018, have arrived in the UK from Hyundai Motorsport’s base in Germany having returned to the factory when BHA switched to the Veloster N TCR.
Drivers for the two cars, which currently reside with Maximum Motorsport, are set to be named early next year.
“It’s a great start to our rejuvenated programme to see these two championship-winning cars in the UK,” series boss Stewart Lines said.
