2 More Capsize Victims Recovered off Louisiana Coast

U.S. Coast Guard via AP PORT FOURCHON, La. (AP) Divers searching the site of a capsized lift boat off Louisiana recovered two more unresponsive crewmembers late Friday, the Coast Guard said after another day of frantic waiting by family members worried for the fate of those who went missing earlier this week. Petty Officer Jonathan Lally, a Coast Guard spokesman, declined to elaborate on the latest two found and referred questions from The Associated Press to a local coroner. A Coast Guard statement said commercial divers on the capsized Seacor Power lift boat found the crewmembers. But the Coast Guard said it was not releasing the names of any of those rescued, recovered or still missing out of respect for the privacy of their families.

Why it s hard for divers to get inside capsized boat off Port Fourchon

Divers continued the search Saturday for nine missing crewmen after an oilfield boat overturned Tuesday in the Gulf of Mexico off Louisiana.  The Seacor Power liftboat carrying 19 people departed Port Fourchon at the southern tip of Lafourche around 1:30 p.m. as thunderstorms began to roll in. The boat, which was headed toward Main Pass off Plaquemines Parish, capsized about 4:30 p.m. in about 55 feet of water 8 miles south of the port.     Six people were rescued Tuesday shortly after the 129-foot vessel capsized, and one other body was recovered from the water Wednesday. A second body was found Thursday in the water about 50 miles from the partially submerged liftboat, the Lafourche Parish Coroner s Office said Friday.
