Michael Long will remain on the Scituate School Committee after getting more than double the votes of his sole challenger, Richard Taft.
According to the unofficial results from the Town Clerk’s office for the Saturday, May 22 election, Long beat Taft 1,079 to 513.
The School Committee race was the only contested race.
Long served three terms on the School Committee and believes he brings “a level of experience, compassion, and thoughtfulness that will benefit the community.”
One of his goals, he said, is to continue to work with the administration and town to review the elementary buildings. Another goal is to ensure that the curriculum being taught at every grade level is easily accessible for the community. A third goal is to continue with the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion work that has been done this year.
