“We have seen dogs that have essentially had their paws all the way burnt down to the bone from running from the fire," said Katie Shannon of the Maui Humane Society in Hawaii.
Hundreds of pets have been killed, injured of lost in the wake of the Maui wildfires, and many of the four-legged survivors some of the badly burned and suffering from smoke inhalation are now being cared for at the local Humane Society branch.
