The so-called Nisour Squad massacre left 17 Iraqi civilians dead, including two children; outside of similar incidents like the 2005 Haditha massacre, the massacre left “lasting stains” on the U.S. military occupation of the country, as the New York Times put it. ....

President Donald Trump s controversial pardons of former Rep. Duncan Hunter, R-Calif., and the so-called Blackwater Four were in line with the clemency he has previously afforded to combat veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan, according to military law experts both for and against his actions.
The pardons for Hunter, a Marine veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan, and the four contractors for the former Blackwater Worldwide security firm were among a total of 15 pardons and five commutations announced by the White House on Tuesday night. ....

FOXNEWS Outnumbered Overtime With Harris Faulkner November 18, 2019 18:49:00

2015-2016. this appears to be something that s been building up over time with him, and the opportunity to sort of do to cope pardons that once seemed to be appropriate. his regard for generals, that might be an entirely different thing. harris: what do you think of these moves? i think each one is unique, harris. chief gallagher, that was a slam-dunk. it was a terrible prosecution. he was found innocent of the major charges, and basically he was convicted of doing a trophy photograph and lost a strike. giving a chief with 16 years service back a strike, that makes sense. golsteyn is a little more complicated, but they were trying to convict him of assassinating or ambushing a taliban warrior in 2011. a court of inquiry in 2015 concluded that he was not guilty of violating the rules of evidence. eventually he would have been acquitted. it s a slipping scale. lieutenant lawrence, he was convicted by a duly appointed ....
