There is literally nothing wrong with a team defending well!! Which is exactly what Tottenham did for the vast majority of this game!! You can quote your 76% possession, I have another stat for you – 1.52xG to 1.22 in Spurs favour. That means that despite having 3/4rs of the ball, and having 17 shots to 8, Liverpool’s efforts were of generally poor quality and unlikely, in most circumstances, to lead to goals. Case in point, they scored from a double deflection and a set piece where the man marker fell over/got screen blocked (to use another basketball analogy – and I have no issue with it, players are entitled to stand their ground!) ....
