The head of the Department of Education in KZN has emphasised the importance of the province's exam performance, saying it single-handedly drives the national academic narrative.
President Cyril Ramaphosa says while the improvement of the national matric pass rate to 81% is encouraging, he remains concerned by the number of pupils who drop out before writing their final exams.
