WB Polls: 76.16 per cent voter turnout till 5:30 pm in fourth phase

Kolkata (West Bengal) [India], April 10 (ANI): West Bengal on Saturday recorded a voter turnout of 76.16 per cent till 5:30 pm across 44 constituencies in five districts during the fourth phase of the state Assembly polls, according to the Election Commission (EC).
The highest voter turnout so far has been reported in the Cooch Behar district with 79.53 per cent.
The Bhangar constituency has witnessed the highest voting percentage with a turnout of 85.12 per cent till 5.30 pm, followed by Natabari with 84.50 per cent.
The lowest voting percentage has been reported in Behala Purba with 66.23 per cent so far. ....

Mamata asks for Union home minister's resignation over central forces firing killing 4 during polling | India News


NEW DELHI: Chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday sought Union home minister Amit Shah s resignation over firing by central forces at Sitalkuchi in Cooch Behar, killing four people.
At a rally in Baduria in North 24 Parganas, said she would be leaving for Cooch Behar after attending rallies, and would visit spot where central forces opened fire during polling.
Calling the attack dastardly, cold-blooded and unprecedented , Banerjee demanded that Shah should resign owing responsibility for the incident.
Banerjee to hold a protest rally in Cooch Behar tomorrow against today s firing incident.
She said TMC would bring out protest rallies throughout the state on Sunday and asked party activists to wear black badges and peacefully protest the killings from 2 pm to 4 pm. ....
