Day 4 - Mastercard Superyacht Regatta - February 27, 2021 - Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron © Jeff Brown A glamour day of beautiful Auckland weather and scintillating superyacht sailing has brought the Mastercard Superyacht Regatta 2021 to a close at the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron. After four days of racing on the Hauraki Gulf, it’s the team on Tawera who have won the first superyacht regatta in the world for over a year, claiming the Mastercard Superyacht Regatta trophy by a nine-point margin. Tawera owner Mike Mahoney was thrilled with how the week unfolded - “Unbelievable, given the climate we are operating under now, it shouldn’t have happened, but thanks to the Squadron, to get this regatta underway was just unbelievable. Everyone’s had a wonderful time, the races were fantastic, the courses were brilliant, and we are really happy to come out with a good result.”

Doyle Sails Race Day 3 - Mastercard Superyacht Regatta, - February 26, 2021 - Auckland © Jeff Brown The team on Tawera have extended their Mastercard Superyacht Regatta lead after first and second place finishes in the two races sailed on Doyle Sails Race Day 3. Our fleet of seven Superyachts were greeted by a beautiful Auckland day this morning, there was a bit of cloud around, but the air was warm, and the wind was slightly up from yesterday with upwards of ten knots of breeze on the course area. Racing got under way as scheduled at 11am local time. The course was a long triangle in the same location as yesterday, and with a reaching start, they all headed north towards the first mark.

Silvertip takes out Day 2 at the Mastercard Superyacht Regatta by Andrew Delves – RNZYS PR & Communications Manager 25 Feb 12:05 GMT 26 February 2021 Silvertip makes the best of the light conditions on Day 2 of the Mastercard Superyacht Regatta © Jeff Brown BREED Media The 33 metre superyacht racing machine Silvertip has taken its first victory of the Mastercard Superyacht Regatta, winning race three of the regatta on Boat International Race Day 2. The weather was a complete contrast to day one, with very minimal breeze on the Hauraki Gulf in Auckland, forcing Race Officer Harold Bennett s hand to delay racing for an hour and a half. By 1230pm local time, the breeze then filled in just enough to get a race-start under way, and with the sun shining and balmy temperatures on offer, the crews were certainly going to be able to take in the scenery that our harbour has to offer as they attempted to make their way around the track.
