ODOT nearly doubles grant to repair Xenia bridge

There will be construction on a bridge just south of downtown Xenia next summer.
The Ohio Department of Transportation is nearly doubling a grant it is giving to Xenia to repair a bridge on South Columbus Street.
ODOT is increasing the grant amount from $340,000 to $659,000. Xenia’s share of the project will remain $18,000, said Xenia City Engineer Chris Berger.
The original grant from ODOT was based on a preliminary look at the project before the design had started. Once design of the bridge was finished, the city determined there were other parts of the bridge that needed to replaced that weren’t included in the preliminary plan. ....
