Middleton resident awarded Eagle Scout of the Year Award

John Russo Jr., of Middleton, recently earned the 2020 Massachusetts American Legion Eagle Scout of the Year Award.
Russo is a graduate of Masconomet Regional High School in Boxford; a member of the class of 2020. He is currently attending Merrimack College in North Andover. He is the son of John Sr. and Lee Russo, of Middleton. John’s award includes a plaque from the Massachusetts American Legion and a scholarship to further his education.
John received his Eagle Scout Rank in July 2019. His Eagle Scout project was at the Fuller Meadow School in Middleton where he led the building of an outdoor classroom. He instructed a group of scouts and scout leaders in repurposing an overgrown fenced area on the school campus for use by teachers and students. The area was improved with the installation of six permanent metal benches in a circular classroom style and landscaped.
