KEN Skates has praised the “monumental” efforts of NHS staff after a visit to Wrexham’s vaccination centre. The MS for Clwyd South was invited to join Mark Polin, Chairman of Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, at the Catrin Finch Centre at Glyndwr University on Monday, February 15. The facility opened on January 26 as one of the health board’s Local Vaccination Centres and has already seen thousands of priority patients given their jabs. Mr Skates said: “The team are doing an incredible job and I’m really grateful to the health board for inviting me to go and see how things are going first-hand.
This is a total of 183,000 people. The health board also say they are on track to vaccinate all over 80’s by the end of the month. Gill Harris, deputy chief executive, said: Last week we saw a significant increase in the supply of vaccines that we received and administered. Between January 18 and January 24 we vaccinated nearly 27,500 people and we are on track to reach the target set by Welsh Government to vaccinate all those in Priority groups 1-4 by the middle of February. As of January 24, 61,069 people in North Wales had received their first Covid-19 Vaccination. 63 per cent of priority groups one to two have received their first vaccination dose compared to 28 per cent this time last week.
