MHANGURA which became moribund more than two decades ago after the mine closed down, could rise from its ashes and breathe new life after a Chinese company decided to invest in it.  
A new deal penned by the Government and a Chinese investor, Zhi Jui Mining Resource (Pvt) Ltd to treat millions of tonnes of copper dumps from former mining giant Mhangura Copper Mines is certainly a game changer.
Commissioning of the project is scheduled for the next six months and once running, the project is expected to create direct employment to 300 people from the mining settlement while contributing US$34 million towards the $12 billion mining industry economy. ....

ZIMBABWE will soon have free-to-air digital television services through 12 stations following the successful and historic switch-over yesterday, from the analogue signal to Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT).
Information,  Publicity and Broadcasting Services Minister Monica Mutsvangwa commissioned the country’s digitisation programme under the Zimbabwe Digital Broadcasting Migration at a landmark ceremony in Magunje, Mashonaland West.
The US$125 million migration project to switch over from analogue to digital commenced in 2015 and the nation failed to meet its deadline owing to several setbacks that included poor funding.
At least 18 transmitters, including the Karoi transmitter, have so far been completed from the targeted 48, mostly in areas that had challenges in receiving analogue signals. ....

Defiant teachers and parents have been warned against exposing children to Covid-19 through conducting private lessons.
Zimbabwe is presently on Level Four lockdown following a rapid surge in Covid-19 cases across the country, which hit over 1 000 for two days.
Deaths are also mounting, making a strong case for citizens to observe the lockdown measures.
But with schools closed to minimise the spread of Covid-19, some teachers are conducting private lessons, so as to make money, but without due regard to the law.
Primary and Secondary Education Ministry’s director of communications and advocacy, Mr Taungana Ndoro yesterday warned teachers and parents against exposing children to the deadly coronavirus. ....
