After Nebraska swept the Maryland softball team last weekend, the Terps responded by winning three out of four games against Rutgers this past weekend. The teams split the Friday doubleheader with the Terps taking the second game, 5-0. Freshman infielder Michaela Jones drove in four of the team’s five runs with three of them coming via a homerun.
The Terps continued to dominate in the final two games of the series, winning by scores of 6-2 and 4-1 respectfully. In the team’s three wins, Maryland’s offense scored four runs in an inning allowing the Terps to jump out to early leads.

Maryland gymnastics had its first competition of the 2020 season on Sunday, posting 194.875 points in a win over No. 25 Penn State.
After senior Audrey Barber and sophomore Emma Silberman each picked up 9.85 points on the uneven bars, Maryland couldn’t keep its consistency and struggled the rest of the first apparatus. But that all began to change in the second sophomore Reese McClure kicked it off with a 9.85-point performance on the vault.
“We haven’t competed over 300 days. Once we got that first rotation out of the way they really kind of turned into themselves,” head coach Brett Nelligan said. “You could see them really get into kind of an attack mode on beam and floor and that carried us through.”
