Fifth-grade teacher Jeana Banta from Flour Bluff Intermediate and math teacher Mary Keyes from Flour Bluff High School were surprised by FBISD administrators and members of the Teacher of the Year Selection Committee when they came to their classrooms to inform them they were selected. Keyes has been in education for 35 years and started out as a paraprofessional. She has been a teacher for 25 years. “I care about my students and do my best to bring out their best, Keyes said. ....

Flour Bluff ISD Administrators and members of the Teacher of the Year Selection Committee surprised Jeana Banta and Mary Keyes as the teacher of the year and secondary teacher of the year, respectively. March 6, 2021 7:00 am Irish Rural Link (IRL) has resumed its computer training classes ‘Getting Citizens Online’ and ‘IT Skills for Farmers’. Due to Covid-19 lockdown restrictions, all physical classes had been suspended since last March. The programme will now recommence online, in keeping with government guidelines. IRL has delivered the ‘Getting Citizens Online’ basic computer training programme, which is funded by the Department of Environment, Climate and Communications since its inception in 2011 when it was the BenefIT programme. ‘Getting Citizens Online’ is is aimed at people who have never used a computer before, with the objective of being able to use programs such as Microsoft Word; navigating the internet; searching for information; using government services; banking; and sending emails. ....
