BERLIN — The Berlin Housing Authority has been awarded a $239,250 grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to help residents access good paying jobs.
The grant was announced by U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen, U.S. Sen. Maggie Hassan, and U.S. Rep. Ann Kuster.
Specifically, the funding was allocated through HUD’s Resident Opportunities & Self-Sufficiency grant program, which aims to link residents with training opportunities, job placement organizations and local employers — helping families access good-paying jobs and strengthening the local economy.
BHA Executive Director Mary Jo Landry said the money and staffing provided by the program will allow her organization to hire a full-time dedicated service coordinator to work with residents. ....
