May 05, 2021 DESPITE its information drive, the Lapu-Lapu City Government has reported a low turnout of senior citizens having themselves inoculated with the Covid-19 vaccine. The possible reasons could be that some residents who are 60 years old and above have difficulty going to the vaccination sites or they do not know where the vaccination sites are located, said Grace Mary Carungay, the city epidemiological and surveillance unit officer. On the resumption of vaccination efforts for the elderly on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, only 268 senior citizens had themselves inoculated in the city’s three vaccination sites 195 in Gun-ob Elementary School, 69 in the Barangay Agus’ gym and four in the Sta. SunStar January 15, 2021 AFTER confirming that the more contagious Sars-CoV-2 variant has been detected in the country, the Department of Health (DOH) intensified biosurveillance and urged local government units (LGUs) to strictly ensure compliance to minimum public health standards and quarantine protocols. The DOH reiterated that the mode of transmission of the virus has not changed and the minimum public health standards remain an effective measure against its transmission. The virus is spread through respiratory droplets. The minimum public health standards include proper wearing of face masks and face shields, and physical distancing of at least one meter. An individual who traveled or was exposed to a confirmed case is required to undergo isolation for 14 days, the incubation period of Sars-CoV-2. ....
