Pace University sending off 2021 graduates in-person, albeit without family

Updated on:May 01, 2021, 11:43am EDT Saturday marks an exciting, long-awaited day for 2021 college graduates with in-person ceremonies returning to campuses.
Like most colleges, Pace University was forced to have graduation virtually last May. But with increased vaccine distribution and the pandemic seemingly winding down in the United States, 12 celebrations are in-person this year. I m calling them the brave class of 2021 because what they ve been through has shaped them, said Pace University President Marvin Krislov. I think they ve shown resilience that will serve them well in their future, and we want to give them the best possible sendoff.
Pace University Premieres Bee Aware Documentary on Earth Day

After much hard work, dedication and anticipation, Pace University’s documentary film team – PaceDocs – recently premiered Bee Aware , a film focusing on the environmental threats facing one of the most important pollinators for humankind. The film aptly debuted online on Earth Day as it spotlights the vital role bees play in our food supply; their importance to the environment; and some of the challenges facing the insect and the environment.
“The PaceDocs team, under the guidance of Professor Maria Luskay, always does remarkable work. This year, they did something extraordinary, persevering through a pandemic to create a truly inspiring, thought-provoking, and poignant documentary.” Marvin Krislov, president of Pace University.

City University of New York Chancellor Félix Matos Rodríguez has followed through on increasing faculty diversity. Nine new college presidents – including two Asian Americans, three African Americans and three women – were appointed in the past year. Early on in the COVID-19 pandemic, CUNY established the Chancellor’s Emergency Relief Fund with $1 million each from the Carroll and Milton Petrie Foundation and the James and Judith K. Dimon Foundation. This grew to more than $8 million by the fall and allowed CUNY to distribute emergency grants to more than 10,000 students.

Pace University is planning a full return to campus with
in-person classes, activities, and events for the Fall 2021 semester, according
to university officials.
The plan will affect all three of its campuses in lower
Manhattan, White Plains and Pleasantville.
Pace University President Marvin Krislov says that reopening campuses will follow guidelines set by federal, state and local public health
agencies. I ve been impressed at how well the students, faculty, and
staff have adapted and succeeded through the last year of pandemic, but I ll be
even more pleased to see us all back to something close to normal Pace
