Old OKC Police Headquarters & Municipal Courthouse Set For August Demolition

By: Karl Torp OKLAHOMA CITY - Now that the Festival of the Arts is over work is getting started on demolition of the old police headquarters building in downtown Oklahoma City. Chain link stretches around the 1960 s era police headquarters building and municipal courthouse. Crews are getting to work, but we re told it will be weeks before the walls come tumbling down to make way for parking for the new police headquarters. “They are doing some of the internal salvage of some of the materials inside,” said Oklahoma City Public Works Director Eric Wenger. Wenger believes the first week of August is the earliest the police headquarters building, and courthouse will be flattened.

Dreams are being realized along once forgotten corridor in OKC's Midtown

The crumbling foundation of the old Mercy hospital remained a large eyesore and the restaurant scene was just getting started when Emily McLaurin started her residency at St. Anthony Hospital in Midtown. But by the time she finished her residency in 2009, Midtown was a neighborhood in a midst of transition with an influx of restaurants, shops, entertainment and housing. She lived in Midtown with her husband and worked at St. Anthony for five years after her residency. McLaurin eventually moved away from Midtown as her family grew to include three children, and the doctor spent a couple of years volunteering her time at Ministries of Jesus.
