UCP appoints panel to find fix for Calgary's downtown

The Alberta government shouldn’t try to “reinvent the wheel” as it conducts town halls this summer with the aim of finding solutions for Calgary’s vacant office towers, Mayor Naheed Nenshi said Tuesday.
In an interview, the mayor said he is pleased the United Conservative government is taking the issues facing downtown seriously, as evidenced by Tuesday’s announcement from Jobs Minister Doug Schweitzer that the province has appointed a working group tasked with making recommendations on revitalizing the city’s core.

The Calgary Office Revitalization and Expansion (CORE) Working Group will make recommendations on the best path forward to fill office towers and renew the vibrancy of Calgary’s downtown core.
