this isn t even the reason we re here. this has been going on for a couple of months, but if you look behind us here where those cones are you can see where there s a fresh patch, and that is the source of the problem. the problem that was discovered earlier this week, that was sort of found earlier today, but it had an adverse affect on rock creek. reporter: 1,200 gallons isn t a lot of water compared to all that flows through rock creek, but 1,200 gallons of raw sewage in rock creek is very serious. it was untreated. compared to the spills that we sometimes have of combined sewage, which would be diluted with storm water. reporter: it start earlier this week. a problem with the sewer line that had been in place since 1885. there s already major work going on in the area. then came the blockage. they used pumps like this to bypass that blockage until it could be repaired. they finally got rid of whatever it was in the pipes going down the sidewalks that were so ....
