Many are trying to remain calm, but take a look at this. Scenes like this are certainly not helping with that at all. This is just incredible. He rocky fire has crossed this ridge in the last ten minutes, moving to the northwest, and an intense air assault is underway. With tankers dropping water and fire retardant on this fastmoving blaze. Far from here the fire continues to march north with a vengeance. 2,000 firefighters from across the state trying to prevent this intense blaze from jumping highway 20. So far that battleline has not been crossed. Backfires have been set to prevent the spread. Hundreds of worried results needed more information and went to a Community Meeting at Lower Lake High School to get updates from calfire on this blaze. Cal fire says thousands more homes are in the path of that fire. That fire broke out just about 4 days ago and residents in the clear lake area searching for answers at a Community Meeting set up by emergency officials responding to this blaze. Noel walker joins us. Reporter were near highway 53. What im looking back at this did not look like that a couple of hours ago. We had to go quite a bit up further highway 27 to see the smoke and flames. They are visible from our position. 20 minutes ago someone from caltrans told me they are getting ready to close highway 53 because the fire is so close. They have been doing water drops in this area nonstop trying to get a handle on this fire. The rocky fire has done nothing since it started wednesday afternoon but grow, not just a little, overnight the flames chewed through more than 20,000 acres doubling its size to more than 47,000 acres in just a five hour period. The county announced new evacuations just a couple of hours ago. Deputys have been going door to door telling people to get out. These areas are added to an already large number of evacuations. The fire more than doubled in size overnight and is now 54,000 acres. Crews spent the day building and strengthening fire lines. For more on the situation lets check in with joe fletcher.
