Martin Luther to host Sunday waffle feed The MLHS class of 2022 will host a waffle feed from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sunday at Martin Luther High School in Northrop. They will be serving waffles with all the trimmings. The cost is a free will donation. Everyone is welcome. CER co-ed sand volleyball begins June 10 Fairmont Community Education and Recreation Co-Ed Summer Sand Volleyball League will begin play Thursday, June 10. Games will begin 6:30 p.m. each Thursday evening through mid-August. Team registration fee is $159. Teams should register at the CER Office by May 17 to avoid late fee. If you have any concerns or questions or would like a copy of the rules, please contact the CER office at (507) 235-3141. Team registrations may be made online with Mastercard/VISA at www.fairmont.k12.mn.us. Choose CER webstore and the Activity Registration. Sentinel Correspondent WELCOME There is an annual rummage sale at Martin Luther High School in Northrop continuing today and Saturday. The hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday. City-wide Clean Up Day for Welcome residents has been scheduled for April 24. A list of what is accepted should have been sent out with the utility bill. Remember, that proof of residency is asked and only Welcome residents are eligible for this free service. This is a good opportunity to rid your yard of some of the junk that may be in violation of the junk ordinance for free. ....
Sentinel Staff Writer FAIRMONT–Borchardt Dance Company is not new to the Fairmont community. Nita Borchardt is the second-generation owner of the company and has kept her business going through the pandemic with adjustments and positivity. Borchardt’s experience consists of dancing professionally for 12 years, including stints in New York, Los Vegas, and on cruise ships. Borchardt Dance Company was originally opened by her mother Kathy and has been around for 40 years. Borchardt came back to Fairmont five years ago and took ownership of the company from her mother in September of 2019. The pandemic came six weeks away from their annual dance recital. Borchardt and her teachers adjusted to the pandemic by putting together videos for their kids to practice their dance routines and a week after the first shutdown the company moved to teaching over Facebook Live. During the second shutdown, the company moved to teaching Zoom classes. ....
