Today we are reporting the sad news that Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh and husband of HM The Queen for more than seventy years, has died at the age of 99.
No stranger to Pembrokeshire the Queen and the Duke visited several times. One particularly memorable visit was in April 2014 when the couple visited a variety of county businesses and organisations.
Hook and Spittal Schools lined the route waving flags as a visit to Puffin Produce was first on the agenda. The Duke took a particular interest in the operations of both Puffin Potatoes and the Blas y Tir brand. ....

Pembroke Dock Blitz: The town's heritage centre wants your help

THE wartime ‘blitz’ on Pembroke Dock left many scars upon its streets which can be traced today, 80 years on.
In devastating attacks by German aircraft on the night of May 11-12 1941 great swathes were cut through the town.
Another raid a month later, on June 11-12, inflicted more damage and destruction.
These were the last major air raids on the town which had been targeted in 1940 as well. ....

Clap for Sir Tom - Pembrokeshire pays tribute


The nation stepped out yesterday evening to pay tribute to national treasure Captain Sir Tom Moore, the ferocious NHS campaigner who died on Monday at the age of 100.
From the Prime Minister to small children, tributes have poured in to the man who inspired the nation during some of the darkest moments of lockdown when he raised £39m for the NHS by walking in his garden.
His story resonated across the land and he became an icon of the pandemic, picking up an honorary Colonelship and a knighthood as well as many other accolades along the way.
His family were with him when he died - ironically of the coronavirus that he had fought so hard to beat. ....
