The Amarnath Yatra would commence simultaneously from both the routes, the Pahalgam track in the Anantnag district and Baltal in the Ganderbal district from July 1.
Amarnath Yatra 2022: The temple of Baba Buddha Amarnath dedicated to Lord Shiva is also known as “Chattani Baba Amarnath temple” and is located 290 km northwest of Jammu. Standing 4,600 feet above sea level, the shrine is located in a picturesque setting.
Seven people, including five Yatris and two porters died on Thursday (July 14) in the Pahalgam-Chandanwari track. Of these, two porters died after slipping from the track while five pilgrims died of natural causes.
The cave houses an ice stalagmite structure which wanes and waxes with the phases of the moon. Devotees believe that the ice stalagmite structure symbolises mythical powers of Lord Shiva.
