Taylor told Rutherford he was concerned the lines company paid too much for Yealands, which has performed poorly in recent years. He believed tens of thousands of consumers and beneficiaries have been disadvantaged and should be compensated for the losses.
They re trying to find out about who knew what, when. What due diligence was done, what research was done, who declared conflicts, all sorts of things. And did the trustees really hold Marlborough Lines to account, says Rutherford.

2020 A Challenging Year For Marlborough Electric Power Trust

This past financial year has been a challenging one for
the Marlborough Electric Power Trust, chairman Ian Martella
says.
The trust held its annual public meeting last
night, to report back to power consumers in Marlborough on
the year ending 30 June 2020. The trust owns 100 per cent of
the shares in electricity lines company Marlborough Lines,
on behalf of the power consumers of Marlborough.
Ian
says the year was marked by uncertainty and stress for
everyone, and this has adversely affected the Marlborough
Lines Group’s performance.

Yealands Wine Group sold off a chunk of its vineyards to the Super Fund after an attempt to syndicate loans held by ASB failed.
