Materiality was identified as an important element during the concept phase of Top Ryde City, a high density residential development in Sydney s inner west.
Located in Ryde, NSW, Top Ryde City, designed by Robertson & Marks Architects for Crown Group was conceived with a strong community identity built around a lush resort concept. Early on in the design process, the selection of materials was identified as critical to the success of the concept. The materials for the facade cladding were tactile, had human scale, and reinforced the relationship of the building with the resort landscape elements.
Built on top of an existing regional shopping centre, the development was part of a tall mixed use building, which meant the materials needed to meet stringent fire requirements.
