General election race set for City Commission The Leavenworth Times Three incumbents and three others are advancing from Tuesday s primary for the Leavenworth City Commission to the general election. According to unofficial results from the County Clerk s Office, candidates Jermaine Wilson, Mike Griswold, Edd Hingula, Griff Martin, Mark Preisinger and Maren Hart will advance to the Nov. 2 general election. They advance from a pool of 11 primary candidates. Three positions on the City Commission will be up for grabs in the general election. Wilson, Griswold and Preisinger currently serve on the commission. According to the unofficial results, Wilson received 1,035 votes. Griswold received 921 votes. Hingula received 864 votes. Martin received 862 votes. Preisinger received 802 votes, and Hart received 581 votes. ....

Commissioners advance illegal camping ordinance The Leavenworth Times When they met this week, Leavenworth city commissioners advanced a proposed illegal camping ordinance that is aimed at addressing homeless encampments. Commissioners reached a consensus Tuesday to advance the proposed ordinance for a final vote. It likely will be brought before commissioners for final action in two weeks. The ordinance, if approved, would make it illegal to camp on city property or public right-of-ways. The ordinance would create an exemption for the campground at Riverfront Park. The ordinance also would allow the city manager to grant permission for camping on public property for special events. ....
