The Alabama Power Youth Leadership Conference went virtual for the first time Thursday, in a very big way.
More than 3,000 students in west and east Alabama watched the event via live stream from their classrooms and homes.
“We certainly miss seeing our students in person this year, but we didn’t want to miss the opportunity to host this program,” said Mark Crews, Alabama Power Western Division vice president. “By going virtual, we were able to have more students in west Alabama participate.” ....

Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, will be receiving a $105,000 grant from Alabama Power and its parent, Southern Company. This grant is to support dual enrollment expansion for Alabama Black Belt counties.
Vice President of Strategic Initiatives at Stillman RaSheda Workman said that Stillman is “delighted to receive this generous grant from Alabama Power and Southern Company.” She also noted that “the coronavirus pandemic has shed new light on the technology disparities within our rural communities. With this grant, we can further enhance our technology capabilities and continue to educate the next generation of leaders.” ....
