Reserves 4-0 Forest - Ipswich Town News

Reserves 4-0 Forest
Friday, 4th May 2001 17:45
Town s reserves redeemed themselves after Wednesday s 6-3 defeat to Charlton with a thoroughly professional win over Nottingham Forest. Town left out Gary Croft, Richard Naylor and Mark Burchill from Wednesday s team while Forst included Town old boy Tony Vaughan.
Town s first effort was an Abidallah shot saved bt Collis in the Forest goal. The Dutchman, who was playing up front with Richard Logan had another go a few minutes later but shot well over.
In the fifteenth minute Ashley Nicholls put Town one up. Richard Logan hit a shot which Collis couldn t hold and Nicholls was on hand for the rebound. ....

Another Norwegian Linked - Ipswich Town News

Another Norwegian Linked
Friday, 4th May 2001 10:44
Town have been linked with Norwegian striker Thorstein Helstad from Brann Bergen. Apparently Town scouts watched the striker play against Stromsgodset on Wednesday (the same night as they are also reported to have watched Magne Hoseth play elsewhere in Norway) and if they were there they couldn t have failed to be impressed.
Helstad scored five goals as Brann won 6-2. He is a 24-year-old striker who has played six times for Norway. His previous clubs are fantastically listed as Fart and Ham Kam (who I am certainly going to look up).
Brann are apparently cash-strapped and would probably look to offload the player. Up to the Stromsgodset game Helstad had failed to score all season and his manager Teitur Thordarson was under pressure to drop him. Don t think he will now. ....

Stewart Fit for Monday - Ipswich Town News

Stewart Fit for Monday
Friday, 4th May 2001 13:00
TWTD is hearing rumours that Marcus Stewart may well be fit for Monday s game with Manchester City. He is apparently rated as a 70% chance and may return to training on Sunday.
Stewart strained his thigh during last Monday s game with Charlton and earlier in the week said he would be very surprised if he made it. The situation appears to have improved since then.
We ve been sent more information on Thorstein Helstad by Norwegian TWTD reader Sture Auren.
Sture says of the striker who has been linked to Town: He was last season s top scorer in the Norwegian league, and has a fantastic scoring record from the few games he has played for the national team. There is great competition for places up front with him challenging Tore André Flo, Ole Gunnar Solskjær and John ....
