Custom and Excise officers found cocaine hidden in a souvenir steelpan like the one above at the T&T Nastional Mail Centre in Piarco yesterday.

For the third time in two weeks, of­fi­cers from the Cus­toms and Ex­cise Di­vi­sion have dis­cov­ered pack­ages at the T&T Na­tion­al Mail Cen­tre in Pi­ar­co with co­caine hid­den in­side.
Se­nior Cus­toms of­fi­cers told Guardian Me­dia that around 3.30 pm yes­ter­day, a spe­cial ex­er­cise was con­duct­ed at the cen­tre where spe­cif­ic pack­ages were be­ing mon­i­tored. Of­fi­cers first in­spect­ed pack­ages that con­tained food­stuff but did not find any­thing il­le­gal. ....

Al­most one week af­ter Cus­toms and Ex­cise Di­vi­sion of­fi­cers found $.3 mil­lion in co­caine hid­den in pre­served fruits at the T&T Na­tion­al Mail Cen­tre in Pi­ar­co, they have made an even big­ger dis­cov­ery over the last three days amount­ing to close to TT$5m in co­caine hid­den in var­i­ous pack­ages des­tined for the Unit­ed States and oth­er parts of the world. ....

An es­ti­mat­ed $.3m in co­caine was found hid­den in pre­served fruits at the TTPost Na­tion­al Mail Cen­tre in Pi­ar­co yes­ter­day evening.
The co­caine find came mere hours af­ter Cus­toms and Ex­cise Di­vi­sion of­fi­cers and the Spe­cial In­ves­ti­ga­tions Unit (SIU) made a sig­nif­i­cant arms and am­mu­ni­tion dis­cov­ery at a Cen­tral ware­house in Cou­va on Mon­day night, which fol­lowed an­oth­er large arms and am­mu­ni­tion find last Fri­day at the bond at the Pi­ar­co In­ter­na­tion­al Air­port. ....

Three men were held ear­ly this morn­ing aboard a pirogue in the Gulf of Paria near the Point Fortin area by of­fi­cers of the Cus­toms and Ex­cise Di­vi­sion and a huge quan­ti­ty of nar­cotics seized with the street val­ue yet to be as­cer­tained.
A se­nior Cus­toms of­fi­cer told Guardian Me­dia that act­ing on in­tel­li­gence pro­vid­ed a white pirogue with blue trim­mings was in­ter­cept­ed near the Point Fortin area short­ly af­ter 4 a.m. ....
