Brian F. Hamluk, a leader in higher education student services and associate dean of students and director of administration at the University of Pittsburgh, has been appointed vice president for student life at UB.
President Satish K. Tripathi made the announcement today, citing Hamluk’s leadership and vision as an administrator, instructor and adviser at institutions that include Syracuse University and The George Washington University, in addition to his experience over the past five years at the University of Pittsburgh.
Tripathi said Hamluk emerged as the top choice following an extensive and competitive national search. The appointment will be effective June 1. He succeeds A. Scott Weber, who was named provost and executive vice president for academic affairs in January 2020. The NCAA Division I Council is
reportedly expected to approve a one-time transfer rule that will
allow all student-athletes to change schools once without needing to
sit out for a year.
Nicole Auerbach of The Athletic
reported Wednesday a second vote will determine whether the players
will have a notification deadline to inform their current program of
the move, with a proposed May 1 date for fall or winter athletes
and a July 1 deadline for spring athletes.

Throw another big name in Kansas Athletics history behind KU alum Mike Harrity as a candidate for the Jayhawks’ open athletic director job.
KU basketball legend Danny Manning, has expressed interest himself in KU’s vacant AD position, has now thrown his support behind Army’s Deputy AD/Chief Operating Officer.
“KU needs a Jayhawk as the new AD who has an elite level of broad experience in college athletics,” Manning tweeted on Tuesday. “Mike Harrity is what WE need.”
