FSU Falls on the Road against No. 1 Oklahoma

NORMAN, Okla. - In front of a sold out crowd at Marita Hynes field, the sixth-ranked Florida State softball team (21-6) gave the No. 1 ranked Oklahoma Sooners (22-1) all it could handle in a 5-4 loss on Tuesday night.

After a scoreless first inning, the Sooners were able to plate a run in the second inning, but Makenna Reid came in and got a strikeout with runners on second and third to end the Sooner's threat.

Jahni Kerr entered the game as a pinch hitter for Krystina Hartley and hit her fifth home run of the year to left field to tie the game in the top of the third. .

The Sooners responded in the bottom of the third with back-to-back home runs, but Ali DuBois limited the damage to keep the Sooners' lead to two.

After Hallie Wacaser and Kalei Harding, Katie Dack hit a no-doubter, three-run home run off Oklahoma's Alex Storako to give the Noles a 4-3 lead to silence the home crowd.

Noles Prepare for Matchup with Top-Ranked Oklahoma

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - The Florida State softball team (21-5) will face its toughest test of the season when they travel to Norman, Okla., to face No. 1 Oklahoma (20-1) at Marita Hynes field on Tuesday night. First pitch is set for 7 p.m. eastern on ESPN+. This will be the first time that the Seminoles have played in Norman against the Sooners. The Noles will be looking for its first true road win against a No. 1 ranked team in program history. The Seminoles are 7-11 all-time against No. 1 ranked teams. Oklahoma was the last No. 1 ranked team that the Seminoles faced as the two teams met in the championships series of the Women's College World Series in 2021. Head Coach Lonni Alameda will return to Norman as the head coach for the Seminoles for the first time. Alameda played for the Sooners from 1989-92 and was a two-time All-Big Eight selection.
