On April 7th, WGIL reported Galesburg Police listed a male suspect as wanted for Aggravated Battery after grabbing the hair and making crude remarks to a Save-A-Lot employee on April 5th. On Sunday afternoon, (April 10th) GPD observed the male suspect identified as 49-year old Mario Schaffer of Galesburg walking in the roadway in the 200 block of Duffield Avenue. Officers stopped Schaffer who initially gave officers a false name and date of birth. Police are familiar with Schaffer due to numerous previous encounters. When officers went to detain Schaffer, he tensed up and grabbed an officer's hand - sinking his nails into the back of the officer's palm. He was eventually placed into handcuffs and told officers he was going to "bite your face off" when being placed in a patrol car. Schaffer was transported to the Knox County Jail.
