Right-handed pitcher Ed Morris had a very odd career. Dubbed “Big Ed” for his height, he reached the majors at age 22 with the Cubs, but threw poorly in five relief outings and was banished to the minors for the next six years. After improving in the Southern Association, the Red Sox gave him a shot in 1928, and he rewarded them with a surprisingly strong season. Morris pitched to a 19-15 record with a 3.53 ERA, 3.44 FIP, and 4.3 WAR in 257.2 innings, even earning some down-ballot MVP votes. Had he played for any team other than the cellar-dwelling ....

Coutlangus attended the University of South Carolina, then was drafted by and signed with the Giants at age 22. He spent 51 games with San Francisco s Rookie and High-A farm clubs in 2004-05, then was placed on waivers during spring training in 2006 and picked up by the Reds.
After splitting 2006 at Louisville and Chattanooga, he made it to the Reds. In his big league debut on April 7, 2007, he struck out the first batter he faced, to end the sixth inning. He opened the seventh by throwing out a batter who tried to bunt his way on base, then Coutlangus was replaced. He earned a hold, as the Reds beat the Pirates, 6 ....
