The Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Works, Alhaji Abubakar Kabir, has pledged the commitment of the National Assembly towards adequate funding and completion of all road projects in Lagos before 2023. Kabir said, during the inspection tour of roads in Lagos on Sunday as part of the oversight of projects in the South West, the state deserved more roads because of its importance to the economy of Nigeria and West Africa. He said the oversight was to address funding, technical and other issues affecting quality and fast road delivery in Lagos State. “We are here to help President Buhari to complete all the major projects before the end of his tenure, that is May 29, 2023.

The Federal Government says, it would resume phase 2 rehabilitation works on the Marine Beach Bridge, Apapa, Lagos, from Tuesday.
The Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, Mr Olukayode Popoola, disclosed this in a telephone interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Sunday.
Popoola said that the rehabilitation which would last for a total of 85 days, would ensure the replacement of damaged expansion joints, bearings and asphalt components.
He said work started on the Apapa-bound lane in 2020 with the repairs covering 250 metres span. x
He, however, said that a stretch of 350 metres would be repaired in the phase 2 of the project on the CMS-bound lane.

Lagos State government on Monday issued a 6-day ultimatum to transporters, mechanics and market men and women illegally occupying the road leading to Lilipond Terminal, to vacate the area due to the challenges being faced by the truck drivers in accessing the terminal.
The quit notice came 48 hours after the commencement of the E- call up system introduced by the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) to ease gridlock around Apapa area, as truck drivers were still accusing security officers of extortion.

Lagos, Dec. 19, 2020 The Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, Mr Olukayode Popoola on Saturday commended the efforts of the Chairman of Mushin Local Government for helping to recover project site hijacked by hoodlums.
Popoola told newsmen that the rehabilitation drive of the Federal Government to make all roads motorable before Yuletide had hit a brick wall in the Mushin axis.
He explained that hoodlums had hijacked the construction zone on the Agege Motor Road demanding payment, thereby causing the ministry to seek the intervention of the council chairman and the state government.
“RCC is working at Mushin Olosha, they work in the night, and at two good times the Area Boys attacked them. On Wednesday we held a meeting with the Mushin Local Government Chairman to help us in talking to them.
