Funding for the Arizona Senate-ordered audit of Maricopa County s general election ballots continues without transparency on who is footing the bill, or how much that bill is. 
Ken Bennett, the Arizona Senate s liaison, said Wednesday that he doesn t know who is paying for the new workers or equipment being brought in to speed up the recount. He also said he doesn t know who is paying StratTech, the Scottsdale-based company that took over management of the recount this week after Pennsylvania-based Wake Technology Services, Inc. didn t renew its contract May 14.   ....

Arizona audit: 160K more Maricopa County ballots recounted than originally estimated

An audit spokesperson upped the number of ballots recounted by 180,000 before work stopped more than a week ago, but then later estimated that downward to 160,000. 
Randy Pullen, an audit spokesperson and former state GOP chair, said Monday that 680,000 ballots were reviewed when the recount paused on May 13. Ken Bennett, the Senate s audit liaison, previously put the estimate at 500,000.

Arizona audit: Recount of Maricopa County election restarts at coliseum

Ballot counting has resumed at Veterans Memorial Coliseum after a week-plus-long hiatus due to high school graduation ceremonies.
Before they paused, the effort had made it through about 500,000 of the 2.1 million ballots cast by Maricopa County voters. The counters now have about six weeks to finish the rest before their lease expires at the end of June.
The floor of the coliseum now has 44 tables set up for counting and 32 for ballot inspection, though just half of those were in use Monday morning. The effort will have to pick up considerable steam to complete the work over the next month. ....

Observers sent by the Arizona Secretary of State’s office to the Senate’s audit of the Maricopa County election shared concerns with reporters Wednesday saying that auditors are making up procedures as they go and that security issues continue to be a concern.
“It’s bad for election security, it’s bad for voters, it’s bad for our democracy,” Joanna Lydgate, CEO of States United Democracy Center, said about the audit. “This is about casting doubt on our election process because you didn’t like the outcome.” ....
