Noles Hang Tough But Fall at No. 9 UConn

UNCASVILLE, Conn. – Despite out-scoring No. 9 UConn 42-32 in the second half, Florida State Women’s Basketball came up just short in an 85-77 loss to the Huskies at the Invesco QQQ Basketball Hall of Fame Women’s Showcase at the Mohegan Sun Arena on Sunday.

The Seminoles (11-2) showed resilience in battling back from a 23-point deficit to take control of the rest of the game, although it wasn’t enough at the end. Freshman guard Ta’Niya Latson led FSU with 24 points in just under 27 minutes, fouling out midway through the fourth quarter of a game that became tight.

Six Noles Reach Double Figures in Win Over Presbyterian

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State Women’s Basketball was paced by six players in double figures on Thursday night in a 98-37 win over Presbyterian at the Donald L. Tucker Center. Freshman Ta’Niya Latson led FSU in the scoring column with 25 points, and fellow freshman Snoop Turnage punctuated a dominant night with her first career double-double at 14 points and 10 rebounds. Valenzuela Sparks Noles to 88-57 Win vs. Harvard

CANCUN, Mexico – Mexican-born sophomore forward Mariana Valenzuela totaled a career-high 19 points off the bench to spark Florida State Women’s Basketball to an 88-57 win over Harvard in its final game of the Cancun Challenge on Saturday at the Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya.

The Seminoles (7-1) finish the tournament 2-1 with wins over Purdue (76-75) and Harvard and a close loss to Oklahoma State (79-77).

Valenzuela played a huge role in Florida State’s breakaway third quarter that ignited Saturday’s win. The Mazatlán, Mexico native delivered 11 of her 19 points in the third as FSU out-scored the Crimson 27-13 to create the cushion it needed. The 14-0 run that helped to seal the game was highlighted by Valenzuela’s back-to-back 3-point field goals that helped FSU run out to a 70-42 advantage.
