(AP) When Curt Johnson walked into the Pequot Lakes High School gymnasium for a school board meeting in May, he was stunned to see more than 150 people waiting on the bleachers. It was more people than he’d ever seen at a meeting in his 16 years on the board. A school resource officer in uniform stood nearby. Someone had recently threatened on a community Facebook page to rush the podium at the meeting like Capitol rioters had on Jan. 6. Law enforcement was there in case anyone decided to follow through on the threat. ....

12:33 am, Nov. 4, 2020 × Amy Sjoblad is the newest member of the Pequot Lakes School Board. Sjoblad was the top vote-getter in a field of eight candidates, amassing 2,990 votes in her name (17.33%). I am very honored and humbled to have the opportunity to represent Pequot Lakes Schools, Sjoblad said. I m am honored to have that community support - there were a lot of great candidates. I m just excited about the opportunity to make sure that all students of all levels have opportunity. I have experience in workforce development and now in education with career advising, so I m just really excited to put that expertise to good use, she said. ....
