NUGAS welcomes new committee, with hopes to reconnect with Alumni and Diaspora

The National Union of Greek Australian Students (NUGAS) has changed hands for the new 2021/22 season.
The previous committee faced unprecedented challenges with the onset of Victoria’s strict lockdowns, having to miss out on hosting the event of the year, the NUGAS Ball.
“As a new year commences, our aim this year is to return NUGAS to a pre-COVID ‘normal’. We aspire to represent Greek-Australian students’ and to foster an open platform where students can voice their opinions of matters that affect our diaspora,” NUGAS told

Much like in previous years, NUGAS will continue fostering its relationship with the Greek-Australian community of Victoria but also with the Diaspora. This year, the new committee hopes it can jumpstart the projects that had to be put on hold due to the pandemic. ....

First ball held by Deakin's Greek Society, a sold out event [PHOTOS]

Over 300 members and supporters attended the ball hosted by the Deakin University Greek Society (DUGS) on Friday at the Vogue Ballroom in Melbourne’s East.
It was the first Gala Ball organised by the society, in what is planned to become an annual institution, and was declared sold out in the days leading to the event.
The party was kept alive until the early morning hours with dancing, eating and drinking, while a prizes’ raffle was also among the highlights.
“We would like to thank all our supporters and attending guests who help us keep the Greek alive. Stay tuned for our next amazing Gala Ball,” the executive committee of DUGS said in a statement. ....
