good morning and welcome. my name is maria cordero and i am the contract monitoring division. i m serving in the capacity of the director. i would like to welcome you to the 2014 international women s day celebration that is being given by our business development group, contract monitoring division business development group. about you a year, a little over a year ago, am i jones came and pitched yea! (applause) came and pitched a program to me and her idea was to take a group of local businesses ~ and train them, call them the business development group and train them at not only train them on the city bidding process, but expect them to participate at a high level and hopefully dedicate their business to city projects. that was a little bit over a year ago as i mentioned, and it s been very successful. my question to her at the time was, how about resources? and she said, what resources? we have the whole city. and immediately we started making calls and you guys w
shaped me as a business owner and really ~ i have such a heart felt thanks for the opportunities the city and city ask county has given me now. naomi kelly, [speaker not understood] on a broader platform. it s not always ~ just the women. sometimes advocacy wears suits and tie. and i see a couple gentlemen in the audience i m going to acknowledge because they have also been staunch advocates and supported our firm and that s george bridges with the former redevelopment agency. (applause) and i m still going to call him commissioner simon, who is an ex-commissioner of cpuc, former commissioner i m sure is the proper term to say. but we have now opportunities with the utility company as a result of his advocacy for our firm and others that, you know, we re continuing today, and continuing to grow. so, thank you very much for the acknowledgment and really, it s an opportunity to express gratitude. i see jennifer elmore in the back. clearly it s not just me. [laughter] anyway, so, i m very happy to be here, very honored to be here. some of you know my work at the city. some of you are meeting me the first time. we re really honored to be here to get the recognition. we have a lot going on at bart so i d love to talk to you guys afterwards about it. but we have a lot of different programs. as mentioned we have a nondiscrimination program, our dbe program, small business program, micro small business program, we have our small business entity program. we have a lot. everybody is welcome to contract on bart construction and professional services contracts. we have a lot of support in our office for what we do, and you ll hear about some of that in the future as well. so, just really happy to be here. i ve been at bart about a year and a half. and we had a
edge and have to say no. but that is what the map looks like. and just to go over the other basic of the permit and it is the low cost and $380 and it comes from fewer inspections instead of making them go through the inspections we ask for a demonstration that we have like their fire occupancy and whatever they have for the department of health. and we will ask for two from the other departments instead of seven, which is the other place of entertainment permit. we will make sure that we reach out to the planning department. and sfpd. and they are still made for out reach. and there is still a notice that goes in the window for 30 days, and in advance of the public hearing and there are other specific requirements just to make sure that it does not drift into the entertainment permit. so, the primary purpose of the venue cannot be entertainment. and it has to be indoors, the performance area has to be 200 square feet or less and entertainment, must end by 10 p.m. by the firs
