For more than two decades, Lowell native Chris Porter has made the West Coast his home. He moved to Seattle in the late 1990s to work for the production company behind that cityâs annual music and arts festival, Bumbershoot. A few years ago, he took over the role of talent buyer for San Franciscoâs Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, a huge free annual festival in Golden Gate Park.

Bella’s statue, that is.
“She’s all decked out. She has a wreath with a red bow around her neck,” said Jan Tighe, the mayor in this Oswego County village.
The 42-inch iron statue and granite base, dedicated to the village’s celebrated, tame white-tailed deer that captured the hearts of many when she was alive, was quietly put in place atop a concrete pad in late September on a grassy patch of land donated by Community Bank. It’s located in a highly visible area in the downtown, just off the sidewalk, a few doors down from the community theater.
