Rhode Island Hospital, Hasbro Children's Hospital get new president

PROVIDENCE Lifespan has named Dr. Saul N. Weingart the new president of Rhode Island Hospital, the state’s largest health-care system announced on Monday.
Weingart comes to Lifespan from Boston’s Tufts Medical Center and Tufts Children’s Hospital, where he was chief medical officer and senior vice president of medical affairs.
“Dr. Weingart’s experience and record of accomplishments at top-notch health care institutions is a tremendous asset to Lifespan as we look to further elevate Rhode Island Hospital’s national profile as a leading academic medical center,” Lifespan president and CEO Dr. Timothy J. Babineau said in announcing the new president. “Dr. Weingart is joining Lifespan at a pivotal time for health care in Rhode Island and nationally, and I am very pleased to welcome him into this vital leadership role.” ....

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) Lifespan, Rhode Island’s largest hospital system, on Monday named Dr. Saul Weingart the new president of Rhode Island Hospital and the associated Hasbro Children’s Hospital.
Weingart was most recently chief medical officer and senior vice president of medical affairs at Tufts Medical Center and Tufts Children’s Hospital in Boston.
Rhode Island Hospital has been without a permanent president since Dec. 2019, when Margaret Van Bree left. Todd Conklin and Dr. John Murphy have filled in as interim presidents since.
“I look forward to joining Lifespan, Rhode Island Hospital, and Hasbro Children’s, and to working with outstanding staff and clinicians,” Weingart said in a statement. “Rhode Island Hospital’s commitment to compassionate, world-class care is evident, perhaps never more so than in this past year.” ....
