Camera footages show rare wildlife species returning to Margalla Hills

Islamabad: The camera trapping devices showed that rare wildlife species that were believed to have left the Margalla Hills for other destinations are now returning back to their previous natural habitats.
The latest footages recorded through the devices revealed the presence of three more wildlife species including golden jackal, Indian Porcupine and small civet cat. These camera trapping devices installed by Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB) throw infrared rays in the night time that never disturbs the animals but makes their clear footages.
Apart from the increasing human interventions the loss of natural habitats was also one of the major factors that resulted in the migration of the wildlife species from the Margalla Hills. ....

Islamabad : Huge ugly billboards placed on Margalla Road in Sector E-11 traffic signal in violation of existing rules are making a mockery of the slogan ‘Islamabad: The Green’.
These are the only billboards on Margalla Road because all others have been removed on the orders of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
These billboards clearly block the direct view of Margalla Hills and instead present an ugly look of the road that is otherwise so green, beautiful, and attractive for the motorists.
Asad Rehman, a motorist, said, “The city managers can have various options to raise revenue so why do they need to destroy green city s basic fabric of the proximity of nature by building billboard walls.” ....

Undue human interventions spoiled wildlife in Margalla Hills

Islamabad : The experts speaking at an event on Saturday urged the authorities and government institutions to control undue human interventions and constructions in the Margalla Hills National Park to protect the habitats of wildlife.
They said that most of the efforts are focused on hills alone while the Rawal Lake and Shakarparian area are flooded with construction and visitors. We need to control incoming vehicles and visitors and strictly restrict change in the land-use within the MHNP boundaries.
They urged the authorities to work according to their mandate and scope of work without any influence, and discrimination to conserve the natural ecosystems and habitats of the Margalla Hills National Park (MHNP).
