Six states declared emergencies. Georgia is one of the hardesthit areas. Right now, the mayor of atlanta says people are still stranded on the highways because of the icy roads. This morning, georgia governor nathan dooel ordered the National Guard into their humvees to rescue stranded students on a bus and drivers stranded on the highway. Thousands of people never made it home last night. Many drivers abandoned their cars on the highway and walked to safety. More than 900 accidents were reported in georgia in the last 24 hours.
