Cummings collected the first hit of the Tucson Regional, ripping a one-out triple down the right field line in the first inning. With two outs, Castanon, in just his fifth game back from injury, knocked in Cummings for an early 1-0 lead.
After the Cowboys answered with an unearned run in the bottom of the first, the game remained tied at 1 until the Gauchos scratched out two runs in the fourth inning. Jason Willow led off with a bunt basehit and advanced to third on a well-executed hit-and-run. Catcher Gianni Bloom then laid down a bunt and brought Willow home on a suicide squeeze that was called out until overturned on review.
