Brazil’s plunging NNE ethanol imports to support domestic prices in Q1 Brazilian ethanol imports in January added 77,410 cu m, plunging of 57% on year, and the smallest amount imported for any January since 2016, when 28,768 cu m entered the country, official data from the Secretariat of Foreign Trade, Secex late on Feb. 4 showed. From the total volume imported nearly 100% or 77,391 cu m were diverted to supply the Brazilian North and Northeast region which has a historical structural ethanol deficit.
