True crime parody. Comedian Diona Doherty plays an ambitious young reporter trying to jump on the true crime bandwagon with a hit podcast.
Four famous internet celebrities flew to Northern Ireland for a fan convention. When their luxury coach broke down in the middle of nowhere, they accepted a lift from a stranger, then they vanished. Georgina hears that the police have a suspect in custody, so she blags her way into the interrogation room to crack the case her way. She teams up with a detective to interview the suspect and find out where the victims are before it’s too late.
With husband-and-wife comics Diona Doherty and Sean Hegarty
BBC Radio Ulster has commissioned a full series of a true crime mockumentary, following a pilot earlier this year.
What Happens In Ulster stars comedian Diona Doherty as an ambitious young reporter on the trail of criminal activities in Northern Ireland.
Her husband, fellow comic Sean Hegarty, below, also stars as the mayor in the show, written and produced by Marc McElroy, whose credits include Soft Border Patrol and the Shane Todd Show.
A one-off aired in the summer, revolving around a bigamist with three husbands who mysteriously vanished. Now six more episodes have been made, to air on BBC Radio Ulster from February 27 in a 10.30pm slot.
