Plane slams into tree near Pearland airstrip KTRK

A small airplane veered off a neighborhood runway and slammed into a tree Saturday just after takeoff, authorities said.
It happened around 8 a.m. at a private airstrip along Manvel Road near Fite Road near Rogers Middle School.
The aircraft had just taken off when it lost power, veered off the runway and crashed into the tree, according to Pearland police.
Four people were on board the craft including the pilot. Nobody was hurt.

PEARLAND, Texas – A man is still recovering in a hospital after a serious motorcycle crash caused by a hit-and-run driver. He says he wouldn’t be alive today if it wasn’t for one off-duty officer helping him off the road.
Samuel and Kimberly Snow count their blessings because Sam is still here.
“We can’t thank God enough,” Kimberly Snow said, describing their gratitude over Sam surviving a hit-and-run crash.
“I’m in quite a bit of pain, off and on,” Sam added, as the couple spoke from a hospital room at Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center.
Pearland Assistant Police Chief Kevin Nichols was off-duty when he stopped to help hit-and-run victim, Sam Snow, who was left in the middle of Manvel Road on March 3.
