A Manitoba judge has ruled a Winnipeg police officer committed a "professional error" but did not abuse his authority when he seized a photojournalist's camera without a warrant in 2017.
Linda Beardy's sister is calling for an independent investigation into her death. She also plans to file a formal complaint against the Winnipeg Police Service for the way officers are treating this case. Beardy is the 33-year-old First Nations woman whose body was found in a city landfill earlier this week.
Closing arguments were heard Wednesday at the public hearing for a Winnipeg police officer accused of misconduct against a photojournalist, marking the end of the first hearing held in five years under Manitoba’s beleaguered Law Enforcement Review Agency.
